More about the artist:
Marc is the grandson of acclaimed Neo-Expressionist painter Paul Guiragossian, and was born into a dynasty of gifted painters who heavily inspired him to create. Having studied the aesthetic philosophies and techniques of influential masters, Guiragossian has sought to combine the profound reality depicted by the likes of El Greco and Rembrandt, with the chance effects that Surrealists called “automatism”. This resulted in his signature style which is characterized by a symphony of vivid color and gestural brushstrokes. For Guiragossian, the evolution of art is not a linear process, but an inexhaustible exchange between aesthetic moments of the past and present.
Guiragossian began painting in childhood, and had his first group exhibition at the Galerie Gegenwart, Karlsruhe in 2008, while he was still a teenager. Since his debut, his works have been shown with Musee Emmanuel Guiragossian, Karnik Gallery “Resonance X Relevance", Karnik Gallery, London, 2019 and "Michelangelo to Matisse: Five Centuries of Master Drawings", Colnaghi Gallery Group Exhibition, London, 2019. The artist’s works are held in numerous very well-established international public and private collections, and most recently, in 2021, Institute De Monde Arab Museum acquired a work for their permanent collection. The artist currently works between Berlin and London, further developing his characteristic blend of bold, unfettered visual expression and the cultural influences that inspire it.
