In memory of and wishing to make sense of the history of its activities, the orchestra has invited the orchestra's former chief conductors to this festive concert - the world-renowned violinist and conductor Pavel Berman (Italy), the maestro from Latvia Imants Resnais and the conductor Modestas Pitrėnas, well-known to the Lithuanian audience. On the day of the concert, the current chief conductor of the orchestra, the nominee for four prestigious Grammy music awards, Constantin Orbelian (USA), will also take the conductor's stand. This solid male company will be complemented by the owner of a wonderful voice, the rising opera soloist of the young generation, soprano Tatev Baroyan (Armenia - USA).
Together, they will perform works of fantastic beauty. But what is a birthday without a surprise? And the surprise of this concert is created by the legendary composer Giedrius Kuprevičius, which the audience will hear at the orchestra's birthday concert. The orchestra promises that the audience will also be treated to more than just musical surprises.
Over the past two decades, this group has implemented many significant projects, intensively developed its publishing activities. It has repeatedly invited listeners to concerts of world-famous stars.
The orchestra's discography consists of more than three dozen CDs. The music albums have been declared the best in the world and have even been nominated three times for the prestigious Grammy and International Classical Music Awards.
The past few years have been incredibly successful, creative and full of global recognition for the orchestra.
The Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra has implemented projects that have attracted great interest and resonance from audiences around the world - a concert by opera prima donna Renée Fleming at the Zalgiris Arena, the world premiere of composer Lera Auerbach's symphony dedicated to Chijune Sugihara, in cooperation with the largest European culture and art channel ARTE, and the filming of festive concerts at the Kaunas Cathedral Basilica. In a special festive concert held in 2023, the Latvian opera prima donna Kristine Opolais and the Armenian tenor Liparit Avetisyan, who has shone on European theater stages, performed together with the orchestra and the Kaunas State Choir. The large group of performers was conducted by maestro Constantin Orbelian. This year, the orchestra also participated in this incredibly beautiful project. The concert featured the soprano Asmik Grigorian, who has been recognized as the best opera soloist in the world many times, the internationally renowned Ukrainian tenor Dmytro Popov, the cello virtuoso Kristina Reiko Cooper, and the Kaunas State Choir. Conducted by maestro Constantin Orbelian (USA). The recordings of these concerts are broadcast on the ARTE channel to a multimillion-strong audience in Europe and around the world, in a special festive concert program, which selects the most famous performers and the most impressive projects.
The collective, led by Algimantas Treikauskas, in 2022 was awarded the "Golden Disc" award for high artistic level and intensive concert activity.
