Miqayel Voskanyan is visiting Boston to participate in Silkroad Global Musician Workshop at the New England Conservatory. He plays the Tar, an 11-string long-necked string instrument from the lute family used by many cultures and countries including Armenia, Iran, Turkey, and Georgia.
His MVF Band in Armenia draws on polyphonic roots, global rhythms, jazzâs tight grooves, and improvisational play, and includes bass, keyboards, percussion and other traditional Armenian wind instruments, sax or clarinet.
