Scores of churches throughout Fresno, Clovis, and surrounding areas are beginning the New Year of 2026 with 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, including an observation of Armenian Christmas.
The Pastor Clusters of Fresno/Clovis have organized the three weeks of round robin prayer services to take place nightly from 7 to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 6 to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays during the period of January 5-25.
The 2026 prayer gatherings will begin on Monday, January 5 at Valley Dream Center, 1835 North Winery Avenue, just north of University Avenue in Fresno. The second sessions will take place Tuesday, January 6—popularly known as Armenian Christmas—at Fresno’s historic First Armenian Presbyterian Church, 430 South First Street at Huntington Boulevard, and the House of the Gospel, 3941 East Mono Avenue, at South 10th Street near Downtown Fresno.
The word “Advent” means “coming” or “arrival.” During Advent Season, Christian Churches celebrate the arrival of Jesus of Nazareth in Bethlehem of Judea and watch with hope for his coming again. Armenian Christmas, also known as Epiphany or Three Kings Day, marks the visit of the Wise Men of the East to the Christ Child.
The series of services will conclude with a Celebration Service on Sunday, January 25, at Cornerstone Church, 1545 Fulton Street at Calaveras Street, in Downtown Fresno.
The nightly services will be open to the public for in-person participation and also available for online streaming.
