The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra (ASSO) and violin virtuoso Maxim Vengerov are embarking on a European tour of eight cities in January, with a concert at the Berlin Philharmonie on 12 January 2020 as organised by the European Foundation for Support of Culture. Under the baton of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbtayan, the ASSO will present a soul-stirring programme bridging the east-west divide in music, each piece richly layered with human emotions that will resonate with us all.

During the concert, the ASSO will play enlightening eastern works such as the European premiere of Armenian composer John Ter-Tatevosian’s 2nd Symphony “The Fate of Man", an emotive piece musically enacting the brutalities of WWII from one life-loving, strong-willed truck driver's perspective. The ASSO and Vengerov will then perform the heartfelt “Lonely Sail” by the American-Maltese composer Alexey Shor, before performing much-loved western works: The intense 'Violin Concerto No.1' by Bruch and the beguiling 'Tzigane' by Ravel.
