Hrant Dink’s Memory Drives Action: Sorrow Turns to Hope.

In this 13th year since the tragic death of Hrant Dink whose name has become synonymous with human rights worldwide, the Armenian Institute invites you once again to remember his life and outstanding achievements.

We focus on the inspired work of the Hrant Dink Foundation for understanding and peace in ambitious youth programmes, publications, conferences, study projects. Hrant Dink's Agos offices in Istanbul were transformed into a Site of Memory in June 2019.

Nayat Karoköse, Programme Coordinator, will update us on the specially designed spaces where all are welcome to share in the story of Hrant’s life and legacy, nurturing dialogue, research and social transformation in human rights.

Huberta von Voss Wittig, Director of the Institute for Strategic Dialogue Germany, will read from her interview with Hrant Dink included in her book, Portraits of Hope, Armenians in the Contemporary World.

Nayat Karaköse worked with charities in the UK and Turkey and also worked as a volunteer journalist at Agos between 2011 and 2015. A fellow at The Alliance for Historical Dialogue and Accountability at Columbia University in 2014, she has worked with the Hrant Dink Foundation since 2015 where she coordinated the creation of the 23.5 Hrant Dink Site of Memory. She helps to coordinate panels, workshops and conferences that shed light on best practices of dealing with difficult pasts through memory sites, museums and memorialization projects around the world.
