Yerevan: Matter, Memory & Restoration
International Workshop | 3–8 August 2026
It is a six-day international workshop dedicated to the conservation and restoration of Armenia's cultural heritage. Organized by Artelier, SIREH – Center for Study, Preservation and Enhancement of Armenian Cultural Heritage, the Scientific Research Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage, and the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA) within the framework of the European Heritage Hub project, this immersive program offers participants a unique opportunity to explore Armenian heritage through lectures, guided visits, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork while applying Italian conservation methodologies to historic monuments and materials.
Throughout the workshop, participants will:
Work in the laboratories of the Scientific Research Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage, gaining practical experience in stone conservation.
Study illuminated manuscripts, historical pigments, and traditional materials at the Matenadaran.
Explore the conservation of Armenia's iconic tuff stone through hands-on laboratory activities.
Visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial, Garni Temple, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Geghard Monastery.
Learn contemporary heritage documentation techniques at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA).
The workshop will be led by Liana Ghukasyan and will bring together an international group of students and young professionals interested in heritage conservation.

Participation Fee: €500 (includes workshop materials, educational visits, local transportation, and a certificate of completion)
Capacity: Only 10–12 participants. Early registration is strongly recommended.
