Pegasus: The Orchestra kicks off its 10th Anniversary Season at Merkin Hall with Brilliance in Motion, a program shaped by brilliance, momentum, and orchestral imagination. Led by Founder, Artistic Director, and Principal Conductor Karén Hakobyan, the evening brings together three distinctive voices united by clarity, propulsion, and a powerful sense of theatrical and symphonic direction.

The concert opens with Glinka’s Overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila, a dazzling curtain-raiser filled with elegance, speed, and luminous orchestral color. Nielsen’s Symphony No. 1 follows, a bold early work already revealing the composer’s independent voice, restless harmonic energy, and striking command of large-scale symphonic form.

After intermission, the program culminates with Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major, one of the twentieth century’s most electrifying works for piano and orchestra. Pianist Reed Tetzloff, praised by Richard Goode as “a musician of great authority” and hailed for his “richly communicative” performances and “magical tone,” brings clarity, intelligence, and intensity to Prokofiev’s brilliant concerto writing.

From Glinka’s theatrical sparkle to Nielsen’s symphonic momentum and Prokofiev’s razor-sharp virtuosity, the program launches Pegasus’s anniversary season with energy, elegance, and bold artistic direction.
