The Armenian Women's Network UK warmly invites you to a special prayer, exhibition, and shared lunch as part of Refugee Week and Sanctuary Sunday.
Sanctuary Sunday at Derby Cathedral will be marked at the Cathedral Eucharist at 10:45am with special prayers and an address by the Revd Dr Inderjit Bhogal OBE, theologian and Methodist Minister and Cofounder of the first City of Sanctuary in the UK.
During the service, an intercessional prayer will be read, remembering all nations and peoples affected by war — with a special focus on the people of Artsakh, who were forcibly displaced from their homeland in 2023.
The exhibition will feature photographs of Artsakh, traditional symbols, and stories reflecting the culture, heritage, and experiences of its people.
After the service, everyone is warmly invited to a shared international lunch in the Cathedral nave. Come and join us to taste traditional Armenian cuisine alongside dishes from many different cultures, celebrating hospitality, friendship, and community.
After lunch, Revd Dr Inderjit Bhogal OBE will share further reflections on: "Hospitality and Sanctuary for All: Challenging Hostility with Hospitality"
The service will also be livestreamed.
All are welcome.
